“Cool” versus “Not Cool” strategy is one of Autism Partnership's most often used strategies for teaching students foundational social skills. 👫👭
To illustrate this, a “Cool” behavior can be keeping quiet while reading in the library, while a “Not Cool” behavior can be making loud noises. 🔊

By role-playing the “Cool” versus “Not Cool” behaviors with your child, you can help them identify the appropriate versus inappropriate behaviors. You can also invite your child to elaborate on why certain behaviors are acceptable and why some are not. This practice can be carried out at home, 🏡 and when there are improvements in their social discrimination, take them to a library to apply the skills learned. 📚
