The Hellfire Club is an eerie place.
The derelict stone building from the 1700s sits on an isolated hilltop overlooking Dublin city, and down through the years has been linked with everything from wild debauchery, a haunting by a massive black cat, to an appearance from Satan himself.
The building is said to have been cursed from the very beginning - an ancient passage grave once stood at the site, but was torn down and the stone used to build the club.
Now a team of archaeologists led by Neil Jackman are attempting to uncover the site's secrets - we paid them a visit earlier this week: http://jrnl.ie/3053842
