In this video, Dr Mike Lloyd (CTAD Clinic Director) goes through a key process in the stabilisation phase of complex trauma therapy. This is aimed at people with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (OSDD). Learning how to communicate with internal parts / alters in DID and OSDD can be difficult, challenging and also highly rewarding when successful. It can also mean receiving messages in return which are unwanted (such as flashbacks or trauma memories) and Mike discusses how, in the context of therapy, 'Checking In' begins to develop skills and confidence to communicate regularly.
