Voyager 1 Detects A Bizarre Cosmic Hum, 14 Billion Miles From Earth
Voyager 1 was launched in 1977, and its goal was to explore the outer planets of our solar system. Now, 44 years since it was sent to space, Voyager 1 is 14 billion miles away from Earth. It’s in a region known as interstellar space, a vast area of almost nothingness.
But thanks to Voyager 1’s new discoveries, we now know that interstellar space is not just made of nothing. In fact, Voyager 1 has discovered an odd hum in that region of space.
