This shootout features 5 small
This shootout features 5 small diaphragm condenser microphones recorded simultaneously across a whole band. Each mic was through a matching preamp, so all differences are due to the microphones themselves. The mics were:
Avantone CK1 (cardioid capsule)
Shure SM81
Miktek C5
Neumann KM184
Neuman KM84 circa 1969
A pair of each were used. The first mic array was run into a True P8. The second was into a Focusrite Platinum Octopre. On mixdown, each mic was run through a matching aux of effects as they would be in a final production. All clips were gain matched as closely as possible at the preamp, and then matched to uniform LUFS digitally before going into the effects buses.

The song is an original composition by me, and Dan Hall titled "Where the Forest meets the Shore". Please excuse my clams, this was single takes with no edits or corrections. We literally tracked this as fast and simply as we could.
