They are commonly known as Veer Ahirs
The combat began early on November 18, 1962, where Capt (Hon.)Ram Chandra (Retd.) and his Company battled to the death. He was made to hold Gangajal and pledge to serve his motherland until last breath.
It was 18th Nov 1962, Chinese troops came fully prepared for the war. Exactly at 3:45 am, the whole mountain resonated with 28 rounds of gunfire. In a few hours, 114 soldiers were martyred.
The Battle of Rezang La is an extraordinary tale of bravery. They might have gone forever now, but they didn't allow the enemy to snatch even an inch of our lands. They are immortal."
