Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC - Blackgaol Knight Boss Fight

Knight of the Solitary Gaol is a Secondary Boss in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Blackgaol Knight lives in the Western Gravesite Mausoleum at the western end of Gravesite Plain. If you start from the Scorched Ruins Site of Grace and head due west, you’ll pass through a field of weird little worm guys — harmless, unless you attack them (don’t attack them) — and then end up in front of the mausoleum. Closest Site of Grace: Scorched Ruins There's a Stake of Marika that players can choose to revive at Spirit Ashes can NOT be summoned for this boss. Blackgaol Knight's attacks although simple are no joke and I recommend using at least 1-3 Shadow Realm Blessings from Scadurtree Fragments. This boss can switch between a Greatsword and a Repeating Crossbow giving him an edge in melee and ranged situations. He also heals once during the fight. Our strategy is to avoid any close combat (running like a chicken is no shame in this game) and choose to attack only when he uses the crossbow attack. You can easily avoid the bolts fired and you have a brief window during the last barrage to perform an aerial attack, which will mostly hit because he is reloading. It takes time but with careful timing it is effective. You can always hit him with Ancient Death Rancor spell if you have proper distance for some extra damage. The weapon of choice is Black Knife dagger with its Blade of Death skill and Ancient Death Rancor Homing Spell because he can dodge almost every slow direct spell/ranged attack. Defeating the Blackgaol Knight will reward you with the Solitude armor set, which is some of the best armor for heavy builds. You'll also get the Greatsword of Solitude, which dishes out incredibly high damage per hit. Enjoy!
