Budget mountain bike or Baller
Budget mountain bike or Baller mountain bike? We put the $9,800 Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper up against the $3,400 Stumpjumper Alloy Comp. For months, these bikes Were submitted to long rides in a variety of conditions. Both bikes tested were size S4 with the S-Works Stumpjumper coming in at 26 pounds 13 ounces (11.79kg) without pedals, and the Alloy Comp Stumpjupmer was 33 pounds 1 ounce (15kg).
Is the almost $10,000 bike with FOX Factory suspension, electronic SRAM AXS shifting and carbon Roval wheels worth it? Does the $3,400 bike with limited suspension tunability and SRAM NX drivetrain handle the abuse? We find out in this thorough review that goes through the on-trail descending and climbing performance, geometry differences, parts differences, ride qualities, suspension setup, and more.
