What Do You Learn In A PhD Program (In Business Administration / Management Strategy)?

There are many things that you learned during a PhD program. This video is most relevant for those people that are thinking of doing a PhD in Business Administration. There are three basic things that you learn during a PhD program: Theory. Theory are explanations of how and why things work within organizations and markets. Methods. Many of the courses will be focused on empirical methods to better explain the theory, or to show the theory in action. The philosophy of science. You actually spend a fair bit of time thinking about the nature of science and what science is. However, there are far more important things that you learn about yourself during a PhD Program, such as: Dedication and persistence. You learn to persist to identify an interesting research thesis. How to cope with uncertainty. To a large extent, doing a PhD is very entrepreneurial. You often face much of the same uncertainties that an entrepreneur will face, and you learn how to cope with this uncertainty. You also learn the social structure of Academia. There is an important informal structure behind Academia that is often not shown in the formal side of academia. You learn about who you are and what you value.
