Syrian government forces have been
Syrian government forces have been carrying out security checks in the recovered southern parts of East Ghouta region to clear the area of weapons abandoned by rebel forces during their recent evacuation.
In the town of Zamalek, large mortar launchers have been spotted on the side of the main roads, as well as inside local school buildings.
The government soldiers have also found a large amount of ammunition in roadside stores, as well as map of the area used by the rebel forces to fight against government forces in street battles.
The soldiers said that the weapons they found are just the tip of an iceberg compared to the huge amount of weapons hidden by the rebels when they left, and many of the weapons would probably never be discovered by the government forces.
The government forces also surprisingly found an stocking location of medical supplies in their recent operation. Humanitarian medical supplies from various United Nations agencies filled half the space of a basement in a local residential building.
Zamalek has now returned to peace again. And the security checks will last for a while. As for the local residents who refused to be evacuated to Idlib, they are hoping to start a new life after the conflicts.
