A flood peak passed the urban area of Suifenhe City in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province smoothly in the early morning of August 12, thanks to a series of preparations made in advance.
To brace for the flood, local authorities prepared beforehand by upgrading the emergency response level and organizing more than 800 people to place sandbags and reinforce an embankment section 3.5 kilometers long.
The water level in the Suifenhe City section of Suifen River began to fall on the morning of August 12.
