한미 북한인권 협의, "北, 핵•미사일 집착에 인권상황 악화"
Over in Washington D.C., South Korean and U.S. officials have been discussing the North Korean human rights situation.
South Korea's foreign ministry said on Tuesday that the director general for the ministry's Korean Peninsula Peace Regime, Chun Young-hee met on Monday, local time with Julie Turner, U.S. Special Envoy on North Korean Human Rights Issues.
The ministry added that Pyongyang's "obsession with developing nuclear and missile capabilities is leading to violations of the basic human rights" of the North's residents.
The two sides agreed to continue their efforts to highlight the seriousness of the North's human rights.
