Operation Manna and Operation Chowhound were allied fooddrops to reliave the Dutch people after the famine of winter 1944.
It was carried out by bomber crews of RAF units and the United States Army Air Forces.
Between 29 April and 7 May 1945 they delivered over 11,000 tons of food to the Netherlands with the compliance of the occupying German forces who were honoring their agreement with the allies and didn't shoot at the low flying bombers.

The follow up of Operation Manna/Chowhound was Operations faust. After it was realised that the food drops were not sufficient to support the people 200 allied trucks drove through the frontlines to the German held town of Rhenen on May 2 to delivered even more food to the Dutch people.
