"Run To The Hills" has been perhaps Iron Maiden's signature song since it was released on their 1982 album The Number Of The Beast.

It is loaded with cool guitar parts, many of them dual guitar parts at that. In the first Run to The Hills guitar lesson I will be covering the classic intro that virtually every metal fan in the world knows instantly.

It consists of some basic power chords with a soaring melody on top that is played completely with bends. Those bends include a healthy dose of unison bends that can be quite tricky to keep in tune.

The way that melody guitar part is played with bends in the intro is quite unique. You can tell by the way he fingers it and the positions that he is using to play the bends that he is going for a very specific sound for the intro melody. The unison bends make that part sound much bigger than if he played it in just a standard way.

In addition, you will want to make sure that those rhythm chords are played very tight. That aural punch that they deliver is essential to creating that driving sound. So keep it tight and in the pocket!

Being one of the greatest metal songs ever written I am sure there are plenty of guitar players out there that would love to learn all of the guitar parts to "Run to The Hills". I would love to teach them as well! Just be sure you like this video lesson on YouTube and comment that you would love to see the rest of the song. That way I will know that there is enough people wanting to learn the whole song that I won't be wasting my time creating lessons to teach it. :)

So I will probably be back here very soon teaching the rest of the song, until then, make sure you master this intro lesson!!
