It has been 3 years, the third gen of the Mavic 3 is finally here!! I gotta say it is an amazing drone. The 20MP 5.1K Wide-Angle 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera is just another level. The 5.1K footage from that sensor, it feels like you mount a BMPCC4K on the drone. The dynamic range has also improved comparing with the 1 inch sensor Mavic Pro 2.

During the test, I didn’t get to try out the 4K 120p, as the firmware is coming next year. But as I do weddings. I normally just use the drone for some establishing shots. So it doesn’t really matter for me if it doesn’t do crazy slowmo. But I guess if you shoot a lot of sports and car racing stuff. Slowmo would be handy.

And I found that shooting at f/2.8 and f/5.6 didn’t have much of the difference.

Over all, it is a really good drone. I enjoyed using it a lot. But would I buy it? Probably not. For the price of this drone (Cine Version), You can pretty much get the Canon C70. For me, I’m still happy with my Mavic 2 Pro. But if I had the spare money, I would still go for the normal version. As they all sharing the same sensor anyway. And 200mbps codec is pretty decent already.

Pros and Cons (Personal Opinion)
Pros
- 5.1K image is beautiful
- 4K 120p
- Long flight time (46mins on paper, 25mins in real time but still good)
- So many sensors around the drone

Cons
- Expensive
- Really expensive
- Can’t use my current Mavic 2 smart controller

Note: Christmas is coming very soon, so I have used some happy music this time. Hopefully you guys don’t hate it so much.
