Donning and removing (doffing) PPE (personal protective equipment) such as gloves, gown, mask/respirator (N95 mask), and goggles/face shield.
In this video, I will demonstrate how to don (putting on) and doff PPE in preparation for the NCLEX exam. You will learn the sequence of donning (applying) PPE (Hand Hygiene, Gown, Mask/Respirator, Goggles/Face Shield, Gloves), and the sequence of taking off or doffing personal protective equipment (Gloves, Goggles/Face Shield, Gown, Mask/Respirator, Hand Hygiene). When applying and removing PPE it is important to remember the following highlights: don the PPE outside the patient's room, when in the patient's room keep hands away from face and don't touch your PPE, try to minimize touching unnecessary areas in the patient's room to avoid contamination, remove PPE at the patient's doorway or outside the room and perform hand hygiene immediately, always remove respirator (if worn) outside the patient's room after closing the patient's door, and if at any time your hands become contaminated while removing articles of PPE perform hand hygiene before proceeding with removing other articles of PPE.
