Tennyson, The Lady of Shalott

This lecture looks at Tennyson's extraordinary poem The Lady of Shalott.  It is, among other things, a meditation on the loss of meaning in the scientific age, a myth describing the need for the very virtues that the Victorian age's 'men without chests' ideology eviscerates.
