Teaching students about syllables helps
Teaching students about syllables helps children break up words into smaller 'chunks,' or manageable parts. Learning about syllable rules can improve students' spelling and reading. Check out this FULL lesson teaching and practicing closed syllables.
In our syllable lessons, students will break up words into their individual parts with our rhythmic, ‘Say-it, Clap-it, Show-it!’ game! Students will read common words on the screen, clap the words into their individual parts/syllables, and then count (and show with their fingers!) how many syllables each word has. A great introduction to the six syllable types, your students will have fun learning while building phonological awareness.
