So episode 7 of Ahsoka is finally here and it needs to be broken down, so let’s get straight into it. The episode starts on Coruscant, where we can see a symbol on a building and this is the symbol of the coruscant guard. Which were originally used by the coruscant guards, so the red clone troopers during the clone wars and the era of the empire. Beneath the symbol is the banner of the new republic, and this major difference in size could perhaps be reflective of the fact that the influence of the Empire is still very much pervasive in the new republic, perhaps stronger than some would be willing to admit. We see Hera having to deal with Senators, especially Senator Xiono, father of Kazuda who was featured in the resistance show, and they are eager to court martial her. Next to him is none other than Admiral Ackbar, who does admittedly look a little different although this might be more of a lighting thing. During this interaction we get to see Captain Teva walking and Chopper who is watching the proceedings as well. Hera mentions the threat of the imperial remnants and we then hear (Scene). Xiono basically rejects its entire existence which ticks off Teva who goes on to mention the events on Mandalore, specifically the events of season 3 of the mandalorian. Which basically confirms that Mando must have communicated what occurred there to the new republic which isn’t all that surprising considering that he is working as a gun for hire by the end of season 3. Xiono dismisses the idea and states that Moff Gideon was a lone imperial warlord. Which on the surface isn’t so hard to believe considering that the shadow council is very much still a mystery. But before Syndulla can be court martialed, a familiar voice enters the room and it is none other than C3P0. Voiced by the man himself, Anthony Daniels, C3P0 arrives representing Senator Leia Organa. And you can immediately tell how relieved Mon Mothma is at his arrival. C3P0 delivers a data transcript, and the transcript looks exactly like the same device used to store the death star plans. And so instead of handing it to r2 d2 last time, this time C3P0 gets to carry the message. It is also worth pointing out that much like Leia sent the rebellion’s last hope through r2, she now sends Hera’s last hope through C3P0 using the exact same device. Just a cool little detail there. Leia uses her position as leader of the defense council to fabricate orders in order to give Hera an excuse to be on Seatos and Xiono immediately dismisses C3P0 as a mere droid, a comment that Chopper immediately reacts to, so an interesting bit of droid solidarity there. Hera ultimately gets away with it and in the background we see some aurebesh which translates to, New Republic, Hall of Justice Docket, and there are some scrolling letters which likely list out the order of proceedings for the day.
We cut to Ahsoka who is training with Anakin’s holo recording, and based on his outfit and hairstyle we can deduce that the recording was made during the clone wars. Anakin mentions General Grievous, Asajj Ventress, and Count Dooku, and from the list Ahsoka has only ever faced Grievous and Ventress. And Ahsoka training using Anakin’s recording goes a long way to show that she has embraced the fact that Anakin was once her master despite his eventual fall. There isn’t really any guilt or shame in touching that subject matter (scene) and with Anakin giving her words of wisdom it really feels as though this was more of a call rather than a pre-recorded message. Ahsoka tells Huyang that Anakin made a total of these 20 recordings, one of which we’ve seen in Rebels and was shown to Ezra by Ahsoka. Huyang tells Ahsoka they are about to arrive and as they exit hyperspace, the purgils end up in an imperial minefield. And the mines that we see here are known as orbital mines, something that was first introduced in the comics. Ahsoka and Huyang manage to escape the trap set up by Thrawn and a dogfight ensues...
