BALTIMORE, Md.  April 14, 2010  Three of Reisterstowns newest and youngest residents will make their national television debut later this month when Making Room For Multiples airs on TLC. Teegan, Jordyn, and Rileigh Clingan were born to parents Carin and Scott Clingan February 17th in a planned Caesarean section at Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

The births were captured by a TLC film crew, who followed Carin Clingan toward the end of her pregnancy, at the hospital during various checks and procedures leading up to the C-section, in the operating room as clinical teams attended to mom and babies during delivery, and upon being discharged from the hospital.  The couple was also given a camcorder by TLC producers to help document the first few weeks of the triplets lives.

The segment featuring the Clingans will debut Tuesday, April 27th at 2 p.m. and will also air in repeats. A number of GBMC maternal/newborn health staff members are shown during the show, including Victor Khouzami, M.D., the hospitals chairman of obstetrics and the lead doctor for the Clingan triplets.

Our life is definitely not the same, said Carin Clingan said.  Its much more chaotic, we cant do anything spur of the moment, and it takes much more planning to do anything, even as simple as going to the park and going to Grandmas house. The Clingans also have an older child, son Truhn who turned two in March, who demands his own share of attention.

Clingan admits to getting the triplets confused a few times, including at their one-month check-up with the pediatrician. This is something completely new for us, she said, noting the Internet has been a key resource in helping her find resources and network with other parents of multiples. One mom shared her spreadsheet that has a 24-hour timeline of who has been fed when and whose diaper has been changed.  Thats been great.

Clingan plans to have family and friends over for a viewing party when the segment debuts, and hopes her husband can get off work to watch as well.

The episode will follow the Clingans as they juggle the chaos of managing multiples. While trying for their second child, Scott and Carin Clingan were surprised with not one, but three babies on the way. Having triplets may not seem too unusual, but it is a rare occurrence when they are conceived naturally. With Scott working two jobs to support the family and Carin recovering from the birth, taking care of the three newborns as well as their older sibling will definitely present an enormous challenge. GBMC annually is among the top five busiest hospitals for maternity services in Maryland, with almost 5,000 babies born at the hospital each year.
