My new unpacking video is about a gigantic 1-gauge model based on the DR (Deutsche Reichsbahn) express locomotive 18 201. The 786 millimeter long small-series handcrafted brass model weighs 7.9 kilograms. KM1 Modellbau (www.km-1.de) produced this locomotive in 1by32 scale in eleven variants. It has a voluminous sounding 2-channel sound electronics and a triple smoke generator for independent control of the chimney, steam whistle and cylinders. In addition, it has many filigree details as well as various movable flaps, doors, windows and a replica of the reversal by servo motor. In addition, the coal-fired version presented here has a motorized firebox flap in the driver's cab. Finally, the model also has a very easy-to-use electrical coupling for the locomotive and tender (kinematics). I had a production model of this loco on loan from KM1 Modellbau for a portrait article in a model railroad magazine and for this unpacking video. It corresponds to the original version with coal firing and coal tender as it operated in 1964 and has a list price of 3690 euros. In 1967 the original was converted to oil firing. I briefly borrowed a production sample from KM1 of one of these oil variants at the beginning of July (2022) - in ruby ​​red color scheme as it was in 2002. I was able to have this model run a few test laps at a driving meeting on July 1st. One of these laps can also be seen in my video report from the driving meeting, but I also show the video recordings again at the end of this unboxing video.
