Sound diffusion simulation. A sound wave scatters to hell as it hits a jagged surface. Check out http://Arqen.com/sound-diffusers/ for free DIY sound diffuser blueprints (easy-to-build, non-spiky diffusers).
The simulation you see here is just a fun experiment using a FDTD (finite difference time domain) physical model. It's part of a larger project, where I designed acoustic diffusers using evolutionary optimization (simulated natural selection).
