In Egypt's largest camel market, in the village of Birqash, 45 kilometers northwest of Cairo, hundreds of camels are sold here every day, and sales are rising as Eid al-Adha approaches, in early August. Muslims often slaughter sheep or cattle for the feast, but camels also are used. Many people are buying camels instead of cows as they are cheaper in price and produce more meat.
