Bikepacking the Cantii Way -
Bikepacking the Cantii Way - A great 360 circuit between 230-260km depending on chosen routes, taking in Quirky seaside towns, river fed villages, Chalk cliffs & The North Downs.
Bridleways , Gravel Tracks, Cycle Paths, Coastal Paths & quiet lanes form the majority of the route, it’s a mild circuit with a few undulations, however you are generally always subjected to the wind cycling next to the coast be it North-East-South or West the wind is ever present.
As a 360 degree circuit you can start anywhere along the route that works best for you personally, I started in Ashford and headed clockwise across the Kent Downs to Canterbury- and then on to the seaside town of Whitstable, Turing south along the coast through Herne Bay - Margate - Ramsgate- Deal - Dover - Folkestone- Hythe - Lydd - Dungeness- Wye - Winchelsea - and then east back through Appledore to Ashford.
Once out of Folkestone the route finds it way through a bridleway to a field of which the route seems vague.. however the bridleway is across the corner of the field through to a golf course .. ( Sene Valley Golf Club ) you actually run down the side of the golf course fairway .. so need to be aware of flying golf balls !!
Ultimately a very enjoyable route taking in some interesting sights and wildlife, stayed in the Ship Hotel - New Romney which was perfect.
