Tigers To Turbines - Golden Anniversary of Wanganui Aero Work (New Zealand) This movie celebrates the Golden Anniversary of Wanganui Aero Works, and their 50th Jubilee Reunion in 2000. In 1950 Wally Harding converted his de Havilland DH.82a Tiger Moth to a top dresser to apply fertiliser from the air on his less than fertile Waiouru farm. Then he started top dressing his neighbours steep hill country farms, and so began the operation of Wanganui Aero Work Ltd. The end of World War Two left surplus aircraft looking for new owners. The Tiger Moth was versatile and rugged but only lasted 5 years of hard use. The need for a specifically designed top dresser was evident. Tiger to Turbines follows 50 years of Wangaunui Aero Works top dressing through archival footage and interviews.
