Doepke Demonstration: How RCDs Prevent Fire

Insulated surfaces contaminated with dust or conductive liquids, subjected to low levels of sustained leakage currents represent a real fire hazard. These leakage currents and the resultant flame are sufficient to ignite surrounding materials or flammable gases in the event of a leak. A correctly selected RCCBs can greatly reduce the risks associated with Phase to Earth Leakage currents.
