The development of primocane-fruiting blackberry cultivars opens the door to a longer blackberry growing season and expands viable blackberry production areas. John R. Clark, Distinguished Professor of Horticulture and Director of the Fruit Breeding Program for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, has spent more than 20 years developing commercial-quality primocane-fruiting blackberry varieties.

In this short video, Clark shares some of the history behind primocane-fruiting blackberries, describes their challenges and benefits, and gives a brief overview of some of the most popular varieties.
