This piece by Echopark is the Case Study for our Collection released exclusively at Casino Guitars. This work is the culmination of 2 years of designing and conjuring up between the forces in Detroit at Echopark and the stage minds in North Carolina of Casino Guitars. Gabriel brought all of his creative and technical abilities to bear with this one of a kind piece built from what we know to be the finest tone woods available for such a piece.
The DNA of this piece begins with the 800 plus year old sinker pine. This wood has been preparing itself underwater for the past 150 years to become this instrument before us. The wood is resonant as can be and holds a percussive tonal figure that is unlike any other guitars we have heard.
Plugged in or unamplified, this guitar sings!
The neck is almost impossible to grade at 7A level Birdseye. The figure is outstanding and unlike anything we have ever seen on an instrument. The fretboard is exhibition grade cocobolo and has a gorgeous figure with just the right tonal addition to the piece. There is a slight "snap" added to the tone of the guitar that we cannot get enough of. With perfectly rolled edges and a substantial but slightly smaller than usual for most of the Echopark necks, this instrument plays to perfection.
Gabriel chose to outfit his Case Study here with a hand wound Echopark Gold Foil in the neck and a hand wound Echopark Signature Humbucker in the bridge. The tone that comes form the neck is supremely vintage with an unworldly charm to her. The warmth is there but with plenty of clarity and punctuation when needed.
The bridge pickup carries a classic underwound PAF style sound with Gabriels unique twist on things. The strange ability to almost sound like a hollow body within this platform still amazes us.
We cannot say enough about how in love we fell with this guitar upon first glance and then how much further we fell after being able to spend hours playing her. This piece by Echopark is truly an heirloom piece that has changed all of our expectations of what a guitar can be. This one has sold, but many from the first collection still remain!
