Video of our family visit to Camelot Theme Park in Charnock Richard, Chorley, Lancashire, UK back in 2008. This was recorded 3 years before the park closed permanently. Camelot opened in 1983 and closed 2nd September 2012. On this visit in 2008 there was an obvious decline in the number of visitors to the attraction and the park and rides were looking very tired and in need of investment. The park continued to decline until its eventual inevitable closure in 2012. The site is currently derelict with some remnants of the park and its fixtures remaining, slowly decaying in the elements. In fact the Knightmare ride track and structure was only dismantled / scrapped in February 2020. The owners of the former park, have proposed various development applications for the site, including a housing development, but planning applications have failed to be approved.
I'ts most famous rides were: Whirlwind, Knightmare, Tower of Terror, Excalibur 2, Galleon Ships, Caterpillar Capers, Dragon Flyer and the famous Jousting Shows.
On this trip we mainly rode on children's rides as our little boy was only very young at the time However we did ride Knightmare and Excalibur 2, on this our last ever trip to the Park before it closed forever.
