The Cuphead Show Vs. The Game | Season 1 & 2

The Cuphead video game came out in 2017, and gamers were thrilled with the production value and competency of this indie-made game, containing hand-drawn animation and a thrilling, vibrant soundtrack. While the game had an animation style that was an ode to more adult-oriented animation and themes, Netflix saw the designs as a good basis for tv series. There have been many video game adaptations over the years, but this one is certainly a unique one, a game coming from a team unwilling to compromise in their vision leading to a product with a strong enough brand to be turned into a serialized show. But in that change, some things needed to be fine tuned for a change in audience, as a children’s show requires a different approach than a simple shoot ‘em up story about two cups saving their souls.
