Maruti Suzuki officially launched the third generation Celerio in India. The Celerio is one of the most successful models of the company in India and the new model has a big shoe to fill. Maruti has given a completely new design theme for the Celerio as it is inspired by retro Japanese models.

The front gets slightly bigger headlamps along with a new front grille and bumper. The wheels are finally 15-inch instead of 14 on the earlier models and the top-end models get alloy wheels too. The rear design is simple with new tail lamps and bumper.  The changes to the interior are inspired by the current Maruti models like S-Presso and Wagon R. The highlight is the new 7-inch infotainment system along with a new steering wheel and cluster.

For the first time in this segment, Hill-Hold is available on Celerio. Some of the features on Celerio includes electrically adjustable outside mirrors, 60:40 split seat, voice recognition, drive side auto up and down window. The safety features on Celerio are dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, rear parking sensors, speed-sensitive door lock. When compared to rivals, Celerio doesn’t offer automatic climate control and reverse camera.

The Celerio comes with a next-generation 1.0 L K10C Dual Jet three-cylinder engine. This engine had a small stint in the Indian market don’t you remember and it was the same engine on the Baleno RS variant with a turbocharger for additional punch. This engine produces 67 hp and 89 Nm, which is 1hp and 1Nm more than the outgoing model

Suzuki dualjet engine technology features two fuel injectors per cylinder instead of one. This helps in precise control of fuel and better burning thus resulting in the engine using less fuel. Maruti has also added a start-stop system to further improve mileage in traffic conditions. All these technologies help to give Celerio 26.68 km (Vxi AMT), which helped the Celerio to become the most efficient car in the country. The Celerior price starts at 4.99 lakh and goes all the way up to 6.49 lakh.
