Testing platelet function using a platelet aggregation assay on a light transmission aggregometer.
Platelet function testing is used to test the effectiveness of antiplatelet drugs, or to test for platelet inhibiting or platelet activating side-effects of drugs. Platelet aggregation is a critical pharmacodynamic endpoint in the development of antiplatelet agents.
Platelet aggregation may be used during preclinical development, to test drug effects in vitro from healthy volunteer samples, or during phase I, phase II, phase III or postmarketing clinical studies.
Java Clinical Research has considerable experience in performing platelet aggregation testing in preclinical and clinical studies, and training clinical trial sites to run the assay themselves.
We also provide ongoing technical support of clinical studies and an expert review service to ensure that platelet aggregation data acquired in a clinical trial meets the required quality standards.
Java can develop customised assay conditions to focus on the particular requirements of each clinical study.
This video was made using the PAP-8E aggregometer and PDQ centrifuge from Bio/Data, which allows rapid and consistent preparation of samples for assay in a clinical trial setting.
