First university to look at is Karolinska Institute, which achieves an overall score of 75.9! The research quality achieves a perfect score of 95.3% but teaching has a score of 58.9%. Research environment receives a score of 67.9%, which indicates availability of lab spaces & research equipment. Karolinska Institutet was established in 1810 and has more than 8,000 students, from which 27% are international. If you intend to study Clinical medicine, this is a good university to choose since it has the 16th place in the world. Psychology and Life sciences stand on the 30th & 31st places respectively.
The second top Swede university is KTH Royal Institute of Technology with an overall score of 66.9 out of 100. This University has more than 13,000 students, from which 26% are international. This university achieves the 39th world rank for Engineering & Technology and 61st for Computer Science.
Third Swedish institution to look at is Lund University, and its overall score is 66.1 out of 100, based on teaching, research & other factors. Lund University was founded in 1666 & has more than 30,000 students. It maintains an impressive ratio of 12 students per staff, which is one of the best in Sweden & ensuring a personalized learning experience for students. Law is a premium subject there with the 38th place worldwide. Social sciences and Life sciences stand on the 53rd & 71st places respectively, among all universities in the world.
Fourth top academic institution is Uppsala University, which holds the 140th rank in the world, right before University of Lausanne. Uppsala was established in 1477 & has almost 25,000 students. This university achieves the 53rd world rank for Life sciences and 93rd rank for Social sciences.
Fifth Swedish institution to look at is Stockholm University, which was founded in 1878 & has almost 30,000 students. The university holds the 89th rank in the world for Social sciences, 94th rank for Art & 98th rank for Life Sciences.
Sixth top institution in Sweden is Chalmers University of Technology, which holds a world ranking of 189, just before Cardiff University. Chalmers was established in 1829 & has more than 10,000 students, from which 17% are international. Chalmers achieves the 80th world rank for Engineering & Technology.
Seventh Swedish institution to look at is University of Gothenburg, which holds a world ranking between 201 & 250, close to University of Hawai’i. This university has more than 21,000 students, from which 13% are international. Law is a premium subject there with the 38th place.
Finally, we look at Linköping University, which has a world ranking between 251 & 300, close to Loughborough University. Linköping University was established in 1975 & has more than 15,000 students with 15% are international students. All subjects receive 3-digit world ranks at Linköping University.

Swedish universities require 1 of these certificates:
• TUS (Test i svenska för universitetsstudier), which is the most widely accepted test for university admissions, with levels of B1, B2 & C1 for different program requirements,
• Svenska 3, which is equivalent to the upper secondary school level of Swedish & accepted by some universities for specific programs.
The final point of consideration for you is Visa & immigration. Graduates can obtain a residence permit for job search purposes (Uppehållstillstånd för arbetssökande). If you find a suitable job within the initial six or twelve months, you can apply for a work permit. After holding a work permit for five years, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency (Permanent uppehållstillstånd). Sweden offers a Blue Card for highly qualified non-EU professionals to enable faster access to permanent residency.
