Liverpool's first away fixture of the 1994/95 season came on the opening day against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The full Liverpool line-up, managed by Roy Evans, included David James, Rob Jones, Steve Nicol, Stig Inge Bjornebye, Neil Ruddock, John Barnes, Jan Molby, Jamie Redknapp, Steve McManaman, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler and substitute Michael Thomas.
The Crystal Palace line-up, managed by Alan Smith, included Nigel Martyn, Darren Pitcher, Dean Gordon, Gareth Southgate, Eric Young, Chris Coleman, Simon Rodger, Ray Wilkins, Chris Armstrong, Andy Preece, John Salako, and substitutes Bruce Dyer and Bobby Bowry.
Goals from Jan Molby, Steve McManaman, Robbie Fowler, Ian Rush, another for McManaman, and another from Rush, saw Liverpool romp home to a 6-1 victory to put them as early pace setters at the top of the league table. Palace's consolation goal was scored by Chris Armstrong.
