How To Set Classic View In Windows 11 Taskbar And Start Menu | How To change Windows 11 to Classic View | How to Get the Classic Start Menu Back in Windows 11 How to Make Windows 11 Look and Feel Like Windows 10 There are lots of reasons to upgrade to the preview version of Windows 11, but that doesn't mean you have to live with all aspects of the new user interface. Perhaps, like me, you don't like the new Start Menu because it takes up so much space. Or maybe you hate the fact that File Explorer is missing a ribbon menu or that right click menus only hold 7 options and force you to click "Show more options" to see them all. The good news is that, with a combination of registry tweaks, third-party apps and some different art work, you can get some of the look and feel of Windows 10 back in Windows 11. The bad news is that Microsoft doesn't seem to want you to go back to a previous UI so it may disable any registry hacks you use in future updates. And these are hacks for a frequently-changing beta OS so there's no guarantee you won't run into bugs; proceed at your own risk. Below, we'll outline a number of tweaks for different parts of the UI and you can use one, several, or all of them to get the look you want. Get a More Windows 10 Like Start Menu HOW TO CHANGE WINDOWS 11 TO CLASSIC VIEW Windows 10 is Microsoft’s latest operating system for your computer. It has a lot of great features but one of the worst things about it is that there is no way to change the default desktop view that you get when you open a new window. If you switch to the “classic view” your screen will show everything exactly as it was in Windows 7 and earlier. This is a really great feature, but if you’re anything like me you’ll often want to view new windows in classic view, but Windows 10 doesn’t have a way to do that. Windows has been in the market for years now. The latest version is called Windows 11 and it is the most recent operating system by Microsoft. It has new features like Cortana which can be used to set reminders, reminder to send email and calendar entries, and it can also be used as an assistant. As one would expect, Windows 11 comes with a host of new apps (including Cortana) and the ability to log into Windows using a fingerprint reader. Windows 10, the latest iteration of Microsoft’s operating system, includes a “Start” tab that shows the most recently used applications. It also includes a “Classic” view, which shows all of the icons in a horizontal layout. While the “Start” tab is a convenient way to access the apps you use most often, new users may find the “Start” tab too cluttered. Learn how to change Windows to classic view in this quick guide. How to Get the Classic Start Menu Back in Windows 11 Windows 11 Start Menu: What's New The Windows 11 Start menu looks quite a bit different from the menu in Windows 10. As you can see, pinned items are displayed at the top with all the others accessible through an All apps button. Recommended and recent items are on the bottom half. The power button is how you put your computer to sleep or shut down or restart. After the registry tweak described below, the classic Start menu will be restored. It works in nearly the exact same way as the Windows 10 Start menu, where recently added items are on the left and pinned apps are on the right. The power button is situated on the left in the classic menu and unlike Windows 10, there aren't links along the left panel for settings, documents, pictures, etc., unless you customize the settings (more on that below). How to Change the Start Menu Back to 'Normal' Windows 11 sets a new normal for the Start menu. It's not quite the same as the menu you're used to in Windows 10, but fortunately, a small registry tweak can get it looking more like the classic Start menu you might prefer.
