The MOHS Hardness Scale was invented by German geologist Fredrich Mohs in 1812 to identify the differences in hardness of naturally occurring minerals. The test compares the hardness of each mineral on the list (talc, gypsum, calcite, fluorite, apatite, felspar, quartz, topaz, corundum, and diamond), and assigns a number for each mineral from one to ten. Other minerals and materials can be compared to the minerals on the list. For example, in watches, the case, strap, and the crystal are generally used to reflect style and elegance, and the more you pay for the materials, the more resistant, they tend to be. Crystals made with sapphire (hardness of 9) are more catch resistant than that of crystals with a lower Mohs rating.

As I continue to upload videos about watches, this video will be referenced to show the hardness of the crystal and other features of the watch. I hope that this video, and others that will follow, are informative.
