In this episode I take you to one of the 7 replicas of the world's towns that Shanghai has to offer. It is the Thames Town. This is part of a mini series - The World In Shanghai.
How is life in Shanghai in these areas in 2021.
In 2001 the government started the initiative called One City 9 Towns. The idea was to encourage people to move into the suburbs. In the end only 7 towns were built and it's taking a while to sell all the property in these replicas. There is a lot of life now in Shanghai suburbs now nevertheless, due to metro expansion, and general city growth.
