President Rodrigo Roa Duterte delivered his 6th and final State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Joint Session of the 18th Congress (Third Regular Session) held at the Batasan Pambansa in Quezon City.

The Chief Executive fulfilled his annual constitutional obligation amid the global health crisis brought by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) to report his administration’s major accomplishments throughout his six-year term.

The highlights of his speech included his promise of change to the Filipino nation, particularly the campaign against illegal drugs, infrastructure development, good governance, economic stability, universal health care, free tertiary education, and protection for the overseas Filipinos, among others.

To date, this SONA is considered as the longest ever delivered by a Philippine President lasting for 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Several time-honored practices and protocols usually observed in the SONA have been modified to ensure the safety of all the invited guests in the House of Representatives.
