Professor Tracey Rogers talks about the migration behaviour of the humpback whales.
Humpback whales undertake one of the longest migration of all animals worldwide. Migration is crucial for Humpback whales like many other baleen whale species. They spent the summer in Antarctica to benefit from the rich feeding grounds provided by billions of krill. In winter they give birth and mate. The warm and sheltered waters of the Great Barrier provide the best conditions for the calves to grow and thrive. Study marine science @ UNSW.
