Mountain bikes are able to cover large amounts of difficult terrain relatively quickly, reaching areas that are impassable to vehicles and would take too long to negotiate on foot. Whether it’s crossing a high mountain pass or threading through a thick forest; epic rides miles from civilisation are one of the best experiences available to mountain bikers.

Many riders have a bucket list of places they want to ride; magazines, videos, and instagram can all be used to inspire this list. Don’t just stick to MTB content either, check out hiking, climbing, fishing, and other outdoor activities, can you ride your bike there?
Research the area, figure out what you will need to take and make a list, share this with your buddies if you’re riding with a group. Think about where you will be riding, will you need a guide? Extra water? Cold weather clothing?
