The Weird Border Between The Netherlands and Belgium

Welcome to Baarle, a small village located in The Netherlands. This has got to be one of the craziest border situations in the world... Baarle consists of 30 enclaves; 22 Belgian ones and 8 Dutch ones (of which 7 are counter enclaves to the Belgian ones).

If you take a look on the map it honestly looks like a giant mess and it makes you wonder... how did this happen?
