Determined to pay off the family debt and raise her boys after her husband abandons her, a righteous woman named Radha (Nargis) works her fingers to the bone on what's left of their farm. She braves many hurdles and refuses to compromise on her morals and dignity. One of her sons, embittered by the plight of his mother and the endless torment at the hands of their moneylender, grows up to return the favours. As he goes on a spree seeking revenge, Radha takes a drastic step to put an end to the cycle of violence.
