EFX Pedals V EFX Software – Which is best? Can You Tell The Difference? Is it the Death of Physical Pedals?
On my journey back to playing guitar, I would soon be faced with a dilemma. Purchase an amplifier with effects built-in, and or - purchase lots of EFX Pedals, or buy one box that does them all... or forget the hardware and just buy computer software.., choices choices! Having covered in previous videos the various effects pedals I use, in this video I take a look at computer software and in particular ‘Toontracks’ EZ products to see how the pre-set guitar packages stack-up against both physical pedals and my multi-effects unit the Mooer GE250. While it’s certainly not an exhaustive venture into this fascinating topic, I do give various samples from a variety of these products to help those who are new to all of this. Back in the 1960’s and early 70's, while there were many individuals pushing boundaries in the music world, today, we have so many choices it can be really overwhelming trying to get to grips with it all. In many cases, so many choices can lead to procrastination and we can be side-tracked from the point of why we play guitar. I trust this video will at least give some pointers to those looking into this subject matter, and as always do please comment below and share your own experiences or indeed ask questions... Enjoy!
