Munni Begum is a renowned ghazal singer of Pakistan who started her career in the 1970's. Her real name is Nadira Begum but she adapted the name Munni Begum for her singing career.
Munni Begum is originally from Dhaka and migrated to Pakistan with her family in 1971. She took her music lessons from Ustad Khwaja Ghulam Mustufa Warsi in Dhaka. Begum started her career from Radio Pakistan and released her first album of ghazals in 1976. It became a smash hit and broke all previous records of ghazal albums in Pakistan.
On March 23, 2008 Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan conferred the Pride of Performance award to Munni Begum.
