In this video, Brad Vorrie walks you through the process of connecting your Banner DXM100 Wireless Controller to an Allen Bradley PLC.

The 1st step is to download the EDS file from Banner's Website, this will contain all of the assembly information required for communication.

Go to www.bannerengineering.com
In the search menu, type in DXM. Click on Industrial Wireless Controller: DXM Series. Scroll down to the technical documents section and click the plus icon to expand this section. Scroll down to the product data files and find the file labeled DXM Controller EDS Files; Download this file.

Next, Import the EDS file into your Allen Bradley software using the EDS Wizard Tool

Once Imported, under your Ethernet Module, right click and select New Module, then Select Banner DXM.

Once the module is created, you will need to enter the IP address of your DXM.  This can be found on the
DXM’s LCD screen by navigating to System - and Ethernet

Finally, select Change and Select INT as your size from both Input and Output Assembly's. Be sure that size says 228 as this is what is required for INT.

At this point, I would suggest cycling power on both the DXM and your PLC.  The DXM will automatically shut off ethernet communication's if it does not detect a live ethernet connection within 1 minute. After you’ve cycled power, the DXM should be communicating with your PLC.

It’s very important to understand that any data within your DXM MUST be mapped into a Local Register on your PLC.  The factory default program will have this set up automatically.
