Fans widely saw 2012’s Dredd as the movie that finally got Judge Dredd right. The 1995 Sylvester Stallone film was a notable flop, with Stallone’s career taking years to recover, and many thought the idea of making a movie based on the 2000 A.D character wasn’t going to be in the cards. However, the 2012 film, which starred Karl Urban in the lead opposite Olvia Thirlby and Lena Headey, was adored by fans and is considered one of the best sci-fi action films in recent years. Yet, financially it was a bust of a bust, and behind the scenes, there was a lot of drama involving the credited director, Pete Travis, and writer-producer Alex Garland (Ex-Machina, Annihilation, Men).
