How to make copper sulfate from copper metal

In this video You can see one way to dissolve copper metal without nitric acid.

This technic involves concentrated sulfuric acid and a nitrate salt. When those are mixed  -there is nitric acid in the solution, so copper will react with it, but because of excess sulfuric acid - copper nitrate will eventually become copper sulfate!

Be careful when handling Strong acids! Nitrogen oxides are extremely toxic! Copper salts are Harmful, Irritant and Dangerous for The environment!

By more careful purification - yield can be much better!
