Welcome to a new day with these morning affirmations for anxiety relief. This is more upbeat and perkier than my usual meditations, because the aim is to help relieve anxiety and get you set up for a good day. You want to be calm but not sleepy. Positive affirmations are a great way of soothing your feelings and giving yourself a mental pep talk.

Whether anxiety is a part of your daily life or comes out during certain occasions, these daily affirmations can really help you shift your perspective from negative thoughts to excitement for the day ahead. Recite them in the morning and set yourself up for success. These are so simple and they make sense no matter what emotion you are feeling.

You can make these affirmations even more powerful by mimicking the postures associated with feeling confident, relaxed and happy so you're telling your brain that you are in fact confident, relaxed and happy as you hear the affirmations. So even if you're sitting, keep your spine straight and your shoulders back, look ahead and smile. If you're walking, let your arms swing naturally and take long strides. You can even exercise while listening to these affirmations. Tricking your body and mind so your morning anxiety fades away.

If you decide to say the affirmations out loud, use your confident voice. But they work even if you repeat them silently to yourself. Writing affirmations as well as saying them can have an even stronger impact, so why not pick out a positive statement that resonates with you and write it in your journal?

Remember a good day doesn't mean a day free of distractions, stresses or challenges, rather it's about spending time on things that matter to you and feeling like you've done a good job. You might be feeling a little apprehensive about the day or perhaps excited. And that's ok. Allow yourself to feel all of your emotions.

The affirmations you'll hear on the Generation Calm channel are probably different to what you hear elsewhere. Being trained in clinical psychology means I don't use spiritual types of wording. I won't pretend your day is going to be great everyday or that you're going to magically think your anxiety away. But I do know that you can cope better than you think you can. I have seen people with chronic anxiety become more positive. And I know that by slowing down you can notice ingrained negative thought patterns and gradually change them.

So use these affirmations to start your day well so you can enjoy work, school or anything you have to do today.
