ESSAOUIRA - MAROC

We left early in the morning to visit Essaouira which is a port city located on the Atlantic coast.

We first went to the port which was already busy when we arrived.

The fishing had been successful and a multitude of fish were already spread for sale.

The port of Essaouira is unquestionably very photogenic with its hundred small blue boats floating on the water.

Leaving the port, we passed under the Navy gate erected in 1769. It contains the engraving of three crescent moon which is in fact the emblem of Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah.

We then walked on the Avenue Oqba Ibn Nafiaa composed of beautiful buildings where white and blue prevail. These include, among others, restaurants, hotels and art galleries.

We entered the medina and discovered many shops offering a variety of products.

We headed to the Skala (ramparts) of the city which includes a long esplanade where several canons line up. This place offers a beautiful view of the ocean.

We finally took a nice little alley that runs along the rampart to return to have breakfast at our hotel.
