The US Coast Guard has conducted a fly-over of Hawaii’s Mauna Loa volcano. The world’s largest active volcano started erupting on 27 November for the first time since 1984.

The eruption began in Moku’āweoweo, the summit caldera and has moved into the Northeast Rift Zone. Erupting fissure fountains and lava flows are visible, but there is currently no threat to nearby communities
